Students of the Graduate School of Management of Saint-Petersburg University (GSOM SPBU) presented their projects devoted to the development of Aviahub by increasing the tourist attractiveness of Saint-Petersburg. The projects were presented to the Northern Capital Gateway Company which is in charge of Pulkovo Airport, to the administration of the city and to representatives of the tourism industry. The meeting was hosted at the innovative campus of GSOM SPBU «Mikhailovskaya Dacha».
Among the ideas presented, there are the following: the concept of cooperation between Pulkovo airport and international air carriers in the framework of the E-Visa and suggestions about the participation of the company in federal programs of subsidy of air travel, and also initiatives for developing inbound tourism in Saint-Petersburg on the basis of world best practices.
Bachelor students (3rd year students) of the Public Administration Program and participants in an educational project on aviation commerce Pulkovo Marketing Camp were involved in creating ideas devoted to these topics in the framework of their summer internship. There are also students from different programs including a Master degree program called Smart city Management.
Leonid Sergeev, SEO of Northern Capital Gateway said: «Cooperation between educational establishments, business and public authorities is essential nowadays: On the one hand, it helps to identify actual needs for future specialists. On the other hand, all participants of the industry are interested in the new attitude towards participating in real tasks today. I appreciate our cooperation with GSOM SPBU and also the students who take part in working on ideas, with their determination and contribution».

The Pulkovo Airport has the fourth highest percent of passenger traffic in Russia. Pulkovo has served 11 millions of clients in 2020 and was included on the list of the best European airports (in the category: service).
The main operator of Pulkovo has been an international consortium «Northern Capital Gateway» since 2010. The company manages the airport and is currently in charge of the project of its reconstruction and development on the basis of their public-private partnership.
The Pulkovo Airport possesses unique knowledge and some expertise-based results which are in high demand in the aviation industry. The company is interested in finding young, prospective specialists. More than 300 students are doing traineeships in the various departments of the airport every year.
