The Graduate School of Management Saint Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU) has launched a specialized mentoring program MCF x TalentUp! for Master in Corporate Finance (MCF) students. Members of the global ACCA professional community act as mentors: experts share with students their experience in building a career in financial management, auditing and taxation.
At the pilot session, the participants got acquainted with the mentor Irina Dymova, a financier with 25 years of experience, an honorary member of ACCA, a participant in the ACCA mentoring program for students of the association.
“Our professional association has long been developing a mentoring program for ACCA members. Some time ago, the idea arose to expand it and make a pilot version for students. I am glad that this idea found a response at GSOM SPbU, and I am grateful to my colleagues from ACCA for their willingness to take part in the work. The first meeting was very active: we discussed what group mentoring is, how and when it can be used. I am sure that together we will make learning useful for everyone.”
Andrey Zhukov, a first-year student of the MCF program, shared his impressions of the meeting:
“This joint format of MCF with ACCA is very interesting for me. At the mentoring session, it was possible to discuss many topics that concern students — career, education, work practices of financiers. The information and advice I received helped me prioritize and find answers to difficult questions.”
The Master in Corporate Finance is a combination of advanced Russian and international practices in teaching financial disciplines and developing leadership skills. The program is accredited by ACCA and is a member of the university partnership CFA Institute.
