Your passport to global citizenship
The annual СEMS block seminar for students of double degree Master in Management program organized with the cooperation of the University School of Business Aalto, Helsinki and St. Petersburg University Graduate School of Management was held last week.
Within the first seminar dedicated to corporate social responsibility questions about the impact of global climate change and the overuse of natural resources, as well as the persistent social problems in the functioning of companies were discussed. In addition, students studied the principles of sustainable management and corporate strategies and practices, and the associated responsibility.
The second seminar Multi-Sided Platforms Management and Innovation in Global Era was organized by professor Esko Penttinen (Aalto University) and Associate Professor Sergey Yablonsky (GSOM SPbU). The extensive program included lectures on the theory of the multi-sided platforms (MSPs), the analysis of case studies of successful digital business companies using the business model of MSPs (Google, Yandex, Amazon's, Tieto, Megafon), as well as the visit of Tieto company offices (Helsinki) and Megafon (St. Petersburg), and a roundtable discussion «Innovative entrepreneurship in Russia», that was held in the ITMO University «Incubator». Representatives of the Megafon Company talked about the success story of one of the leading Russian provider of mobile communication, and demonstrated operational management in real-time in the company's operational center. The guest speaker Igor Rozhdestvensky, had been the director of Business Incubator Ingria Technopark for 6 year, told in detail about the peculiarities of Russian business in the digital business. Seminar completed by startup event where students made pitch presentations and competed for investment for their digital projects developed during the workshop.
Educational part was extended by cultural program in which masters visited the city’s places of interest and had the opportunity to discuss their ideas with colleagues in an informal atmosphere.
CEMS is the Global Alliance in Management Education the activity of which include not just the education of future talents in the field of management, but also responsible international business leaders, who would take into account the social impact that they will have on the world community. One of the important criterion by which students are selected for the program, is a desire to achieve success in the international business environment, based on a responsible approach and high ethical qualities.
