The Graduate School of Management of St. Petersburg University (GSOM SPbU) summed up the results of the 2023 admission campaign. This year, the number of people wishing to get an education in one of the best business schools in Eastern Europe has grown significantly. 295 students excluding foreigners are enrolled in the bachelor program, which is 36% more than in 2022. 109 applicants entered masters programs and it is the maximum number of applicants for the last 4 years.
A total of 3,689 applications were submitted to the Business School's admissions office for bachelor programme and 782 for master programme. Admission to contractual places in the magistracy has increased by 5 times compared to last year and has become a record since 2018.
The most popular among applicants at GSOM SPbU has traditionally been the bachelor program "Management", 1,780 applications were submitted for it in 2023.
The highest competition was observed in the program "State and municipal management" — 63 people for a budget place. In total, 1423 applications were submitted for the SMM program — in order to accept all candidates who successfully passed the entrance tests, the Business School had to open additional places.
School graduates submitted 486 applications for the bachelor program "International Management", 84 contracts were concluded which exceeded the result of last year twice.
This year, 80 graduates of leading Russian universities applied to study in the scientific specialty "Management" at the GSOM SPbU doctoral programs (in 2022 — 38 people). 6 applicants successfully passed the entrance examinations and were enrolled in education at the expense of budgetary allocations.
Traditionally, more than a half of GSOM SPbU freshmen are the residents of the North-Western Federal District and Saint-Petersburg citizens, the TOP-3 also includes the Volga and Central Federal Districts.
86 foreigners are also recommended for enrollment in bachelor's, master's and doctoral studies.
The management of the Business School associates the success of this year's admission campaign with the introduction of new approaches to working with applicants: direct contact with potential applicants before the start of accepting documents, holding regular meetings with academic directors, collecting feedback and a discount program for master's students. A convenient class schedule was developed and a mentoring marathon was held at the MASTER IN CORPORATE FINANCE (MCF) program, an educational track was launched at the MASTER IN MANAGEMENT (MIM) program together with the leader in strategic consulting Yakov and Partners .
GSOM SPbU students were involved in the admission campaign, everyone had the opportunity to ask questions personally about education and student life. In addition, students helped organize regular tours of the Mikhailovskaya Dacha campus, so that undergraduate students and their parents could see modern classrooms and comfortable dormitories with their own eyes.
